專業概況

Note: This program was designed for our partnership with Vietnam National University and is taught on-site in Vietnam. You will be taking the courses while living and staying in Vietnam.

Opportunities for teaching English in other countries are increasing yearly as English continues to be the preferred language for many professions and a requirement in many foreign school systems, beginning as early as primary school. An MS in Teaching English as a Foreign Language is the degree of choice for overseas employment.

The Master of Science in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at Southern New Hampshire University is designed for people teaching or intending to teach English in foreign school systems, language schools, businesses and organizations. The MS in TEFL is also appropriate for those who wish to teach in similar situations here in the United States.

In the MS in Teaching English as a Foreign Language program, methodologies for all types of teaching situations are integrated into the curriculum, as well as strategies for teaching learners of all ages. Transfer credit is accepted for courses taken at the graduate level at a recognized University in Vietnam as part of the application process. An additional 6 courses are taught on-site in Vietnam.

Career Outlook

Overall, careers in education are experiencing healthy growth. Kindergarten and elementary school teacher positions are expected to grow 6% through 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Employment of middle school and high school teachers is projected to grow 4% through 2024 as well.
