Degree Description

The Lamar University Bachelor of Arts Degree in History allows you to discover trends and patterns as you explore historical development from pre-history to the present. This program will develop your skills in critical thinking, research, writing, argumentation and documentation.

Why Study History at Lamar?

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at Lamar University offers you several options in terms of focus and an end result: you may choose the BA in History as a standalone program, or you may opt to add six hours for history or social studies teacher certification.

This degree can be a stepping stone into your graduate degree. Areas of study for graduate studies include history, historic preservation, law or political science. If you're interested in an accelerated route to graduate level study, check out our BA/MA Fast Track Option.
