Yes.Maybe! Whether or not it will happen again next year will depend on student interest and how well the event goes this year.

What do you think students can gain from doing activities like Pi Day?

It’s a fun way to celebrate and get students talking about math. Also a good excuse to eat pie and pie your teacher in the face!

Are there any plans for other academic activities in high school?

If by academic activities you mean math-related ones, for sure! Students currently participate in various math contests year-round.

Is this activity planned by the students themselves?

Haha, no. The idea for this event came into being during a conversation between myself and another teacher. We thought it would be fun to offer a math-based event for students so here we are!

這次活動是學(xué)生們自己策劃的嗎?

哈哈，沒有。這個活動的想法是在我和另一位老師的談話中產(chǎn)生的。我們認(rèn)為這將是一個有趣的數(shù)學(xué)基礎(chǔ)活動，所以我們就舉行了!

圓周率日

There are many benefits from students taking parts in events on campus like PI Day. There are the obvious educational and social benefits from spending time with their peers, studying for the activities, and the financial benefit for supporting future math events on campus. There are hidden benefits as well, skills that students learn in planning, preparing, and participating in such events.

For example the creation of the advertisement video for PI day involved many student volunteers, actors, videographers, and editors who had to follow a clients vision (mine) and create based on that vision.. These skills are ones they can apply directly to a future workplace. I think that events such as PI day are integral to creating a creative and supportive school community, and that Sino Canada greatly values such endeavours.

學(xué)生參加像圓周率日這樣的校園活動有很多好處。花時間和同學(xué)們在一起，為活動做準(zhǔn)備，以及為將來校園數(shù)學(xué)活動提供支持，都有明顯的教育和社會意義。學(xué)生在計(jì)劃、準(zhǔn)備和參與這樣的活動中可以學(xué)習(xí)到技能，受益匪淺。

例如，許多學(xué)生志愿者、演員、攝像師和編輯為圓周率日制作廣告視頻，他們必須遵循客戶的愿景(我的)，并基于該愿景進(jìn)行創(chuàng)作。這些技能可以直接應(yīng)用到未來的**中。我認(rèn)為像圓周率日這樣的活動，對于創(chuàng)建一個有創(chuàng)意的學(xué)校社區(qū)是不可或缺的，楓華非常重視這些。

There are plans in the work by various teachers to create and implement academic activities in the future. Many teachers have activities that are connected to in-class learning that showcase what the students have learned in their courses to date. These events are held by various departments, Fine Arts, Socials, Business and IT and more.

Academic events are also created through the various clubs on campus, such as MUN and the Outdoors club who recently held events off-campus. These events offer opportunities for learning outside of the classroom. Students and teachers looking forward to attending such events in the future should watch closely moodle pages, TAG announcements and posters on-campus.

在今后的**中，各個教師都有創(chuàng)建和實(shí)施學(xué)術(shù)活動的計(jì)劃。許多教師有與課堂學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)的活動，這些活動展示了學(xué)生迄今**在他們的課程中學(xué)到了什么，由Fine Arts, Socials, Business和IT等不同的部門舉辦。

一個簡單的日子，它固然有多重的含義，就如同一件事物，每個學(xué)生會有不同的看法，進(jìn)而記住不同的意思，這也許是個復(fù)雜的哲學(xué)命題。

但讓一個日子、一件事、一個人或是一個知識點(diǎn)，以多元的、科學(xué)的，富有意義的姿態(tài)，呈現(xiàn)在孩子們的面前，留在他們的記憶和理解中，從而能夠發(fā)散出去，去求知若渴，去求真求實(shí)，那才是楓華教育使命的價(jià)值體現(xiàn)，是遠(yuǎn)大教育夢想的最初實(shí)現(xiàn)。
