The MSc Information Technology with Network Management degree provides an opportunity for candidates wishing to formalise their existing IT experience with a qualification, and for graduates of non-computing disciplines to develop the specialist skills to transition into an exciting career in computing, with a specialism in network management, taught by Cisco-accredited trainers.

The course will provide you with the core computing and computer networking knowledge and skills required to work within a technical IT environment.

Throughout the course, content is complemented by practical work undertaken in state-of-the-art facilities, using tools and techniques to allow you to match software solutions to the needs of businesses. This practical element will increase your theoretical understanding by developing real-world problem-solving skills, enhancing your employability as a graduate.

What you will study

The course is designed to provide the core knowledge and skills required to work in industry, using network configuration, analysis, troubleshooting and diagnosis tools as well as software development tools and techniques.

You will learn how to design, implement and manage computer networks, as well as develop software, database systems, and web applications. The core technical content of the course is directed towards the study of modern tools and techniques in the fields of network routing and switching, wireless networks, software development, database systems and web programming. You will learn to use modern software tools and environments, allowing you to match these to the needs of commerce and industry using appropriate development methodology to provide high quality software solutions.

Throughout the course, content is complemented by practical work, allowing you to support your theoretical understanding by developing real-world problem solving skills and gaining practical experience.

You will acquire the research and development skills required to undertake a sustained piece of network management or software development project work.

Accredited by the British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT for the purposes of partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional.

為來自中國的學生設計 Students need to have of the following qualifications: a four-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised "211" or "985" university with an overall average of 65% (4 point scale 64-67% = C- and 5 point scale 60-74% = C). 70% is required from all other recognised universities in China. Students who hold a three-year college Diploma from a recognised institution will need to successfully complete a pre-masters programme in China or the UK to be considered for entry. A small number of University postgraduate programmes do require a minimum of second class upper classification, or an equivalent. Applicants with lower qualification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis. Students need to have an IELTS overall of 6.5 includes 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening.
