A master’s degree in social work from PSU will prepare you to challenge systems of oppression, build racial equity and social justice, and embark on a fulfilling career as a social worker. The Portland State University School of Social Work is ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and is the only public MSW degree offered in Oregon accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

PROGRAM OPTIONS

We are proud to offer social work classes with enough flexibility to make it possible for you to gain your social work degree when and where it’s convenient. The MSW Program is a 78-credit program (Advanced Standing – 46 credits) which can be completed in Portland, Eugene, Salem, Central Oregon, Southern Oregon or Online. The curriculum combines coursework and two 500-hour (16 hr/week) field education placements (Advanced Standing – 1 field placement) in a range of human service organizations.

We offer 4 advanced concentrations, though not all concentrations are offered in all locations. Portland campus offers all four concentrations; Salem, Eugene, Southern Oregon, and Central Oregon offer the clinical concentration; and Online we offer the Practice and Leadership with Communities and Organizations and Health Across the Lifespan concentrations. All concentrations will focus on the knowledge, values and skills of advanced social work practice and leadership. Students in any concentration will be eligible to pursue the Oregon clinical social work license after graduation, and information about that process will be provided to all students in the final term. In addition to the 3-course advanced sequence, students will take 6 electives, some of which may be required for a specific concentration.

The M.S.W. Distance Option (DO) program offers an advanced concentration in Clinical Social Work. In fall 2020, a new cohort of students will begin in Salem and Southern Oregon. The Central Oregon and Salem sites will each have a cohort in their final year.

The M.S.W. Online program offers two advanced concentrations: Practice and Leadership with Communities and Organizations and Health Across the Lifespan.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be admitted to PSU for a master’s program, applicants must satisfy University requirements and be accepted by the academic department in which the graduate study will occur. Admission eligibility is based on receipt of a baccalaureate degree equivalent to a United States four-year bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized as an institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education in the relevant country or be regionally accredited within the U.S. Regular Admission: To be considered for regular admission, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or the equivalent (on the U.S. 4.0 scale). Applicants who have earned 9 or more letter-graded graduate credits must have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent; this graduate GPA supersedes the undergraduate GPA. IELTS: 6.5 overall score with minimum sub scores of 6.5 in reading and writing, TOEFL score of Paper-based: 550 overall; 22 in writing with 20 in reading and listening, TOEFL score of Internet-based: Minimum overall score of 80 with minimum sub scores of 18 in reading and writing, PTE - Academic: 60 overall.
