專業(yè)概況

在這里學(xué)什么？

This is the first and only postgraduate course of its kind in the UK focusing on solar as a renewable energy. The MSc Solar Energy Systems course will help you to develop an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice, along with professional and research skills necessary to characterise, design and manage solar energy systems.

A unique element of this course is the collaboration with industry and its relevance to the current issues in the modern-day solar energy sector. We are actively working with Scottish companies on the development of solar energy systems for new applications, and this provides you with opportunities to work on industrial projects which will enhance your employability.

TERM 1

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the essential theoretical background needed for the design, operation and maintenance of solar energy systems. In this stage you will be also introduced to all types of renewable energy resources and the global solar energy policy.

TERM 2

You will work on the design of complex solar energy systems, starting with given specifications and its integration into the grid with other energy resources. You will also acquire an understanding of the principles of project management and quantitative and qualitative approaches to environmental resources and environmental impacts.

TERM 3

You will work on an individual project to demonstrate your understanding and expertise of implementing the knowledge gained from Stage 1 and Stage 2 teachings.

As a full-time student you will have access to guest lecturers who specialise in different fields of solar energy, bringing you closer yet to the issues of solar energy in practice.

為來自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Students need to have of the following qualifications: a four-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised "211" or "985" university with an overall average of 65% (4 point scale 64-67% = C- and 5 point scale 60-74% = C). 70% is required from all other recognised universities in China. Students who hold a three-year college Diploma from a recognised institution will need to successfully complete a pre-masters programme in China or the UK to be considered for entry. A small number of University postgraduate programmes do require a minimum of second class upper classification, or an equivalent. Applicants with lower qualification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis. Students need to have an IELTS overall of 6.5 includes 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening.
